"Pysanky" (Batik Egg Art) and Alcohol Ink Tiles
Eggshell designs inspired by traditional Ukrainian Easter eggs.
Eggshell designs combining analine dyes and metallic alcohol ink.
Non-traditional designs using alcohol ink and etching.
Designs on goose egg shells inspired by southwestern Native American pottery.
"Cosmetesque" design using alcohol inks on an ostrich egg shell.
Spirit Scapes are abstract designs suggesting landscapes, created by using alcohol inks on ceramic tile. This is an intuitive process that uses no or minimal brush work or pre-planned sketches. Coffee stirrers, drinking straws, old credit cards, Sharpie markers, Q-tips, and other every-day items are used to move the inks and create designs on the ceramic surface. Susan Blubaugh’s designs are influenced by the mountains, lakes, trees, palisades, and other geologic features of the Pacific Northwest.
