I am a native Washingtonian and retired mill worker. I took up woodturning as a hobby and it has turned into a passion for me. I began by turning bowls, vases, and various traditional wooden items and then discovered segmented wood turning! This process begins by designing the item to be created. I do all of this the old fashioned way using graph paper, pencil, and colored pencils to create a "map" of what I am going to create. I use a wide variety of hardwoods, mixing and matching color and texture, to create the desired effect. My creations are made of from less than 200 to over 2,000 individual pieces of wood. In addition, I sometimes add carved areas and mineral inlays to enhance the appearance of the vessel.
I hope seeing some of my creations will give you as much pleasure as I get from creating them!
